Utah Highway Patrol seeks suspect in Salt Lake County road rage incident

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, April 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help in identifying several suspects after a shot was fired Thursday in a road-rage incident.

According to UHP information, the shot was fired at about 5 p.m. Thursday on westbound Interstate 80 near the northbound on-ramp for Interstate 215.

Officers say the shot was fired from a sedan or SUV, dark in color. The driver is described as a male who was possibly Polynesian or African-American. A Caucasian female was a passenger in the vehicle, according to a news release.

A bullet struck another vehicle, but no injuries were reported. Officers said road rage is believed to be the motive in the incident.

The State Bureau of Investigation is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information about the suspects to call the Department of Public Safety’s dispatch line at 801-887-3800.
