SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 15, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Utah Highway Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries Friday morning when a pickup truck hit the back of his patrol car as he was assisting a vehicle that had spun out.
The incident occurred at 6:10 a.m. on Interstate 215 near mile post 23, the Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release.
“Trooper Dale Talbot was investigating a single-vehicle crash on the 700 North structure, where a vehicle lost control, spun out and struck the left barrier wall,” the news release said.
“Trooper Talbot was behind the vehicle, in the left emergency lane, with his emergency lights activated. A red Nissan pickup traveling northbound lost control, spun out and rear ended Trooper Talbot’s car, while he was seated in it.”
Talbot was wearing his seat belt when he was struck, and received minor injuries.
One person from the pickup truck was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Both vehicles sustained major damage.
The Salt Lake City Police Department will be investigating the incident.
