SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Taylorsville man accused of assaulting his former roommate is facing multiple felony charges after forcing his roommate to make a terrible choice in the ultimate no-win situation.

According to court documents, Jason Dee Maughn, 45, is facing charges of first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping, first-degree felony aggravated sexual assault, second-degree felony mayhem and second-degree felony aggravated assault.

The charges stem from an argument between Maughn and a former roommate who reported to police that he was assaulted on the evening of Aug. 30 in Salt Lake County.

The victim reported the argument began at approximately 11 p.m.

“During the argument, Maughn held a shotgun to the victim’s head and made him sit on a chair with hand rests,” charging documents state. “When seated, the victim’s wrists were handcuffed to the chair. Maughn told the victim that he could either be taken to the desert and be killed or Maughn could drive a nail into the victim’s penis.”

Maughn told the victim that if he fought, he would shoot him. The victim said he chose to have a nail driven through his genitals.

Charging documents state Maughn placed a 2 foot by 4 foot wooden board under the victim’s groin after his pants were pulled down. Maughn then positioned a tool resembling an ice pick on top of the victim’s genitals. He then used a rusty hammer to drive the tool resembling the ice pick into the victim’s genitals and into the wood board below.

After a few seconds, Maughn pulled the tool resembling the ice pick out of the victim’s genitals and took off his handcuffs. The victim ran to the bathroom and Maughn told him to leave.

The victim went to the hospital the next morning.

Maughn’s bail has been set at $250,000.

  1. Maughn needs to lose his guns and his freedom and gain continuous mental health care.
WTF is wrong with the roommate that they waited to go to the hospital? Needs mental help too.
