SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 4, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah’s 4th District Congressman Ben McAdams says he now supports the impeachment inquiry of Donald Trump.
McAdams made the announcement Friday after previously declining to take sides in the matter.
“The president’s actions yesterday as well as allegations he has abused his power and harmed our national security for his own personal gain, are serious and they demand attention from Congress, where we have the constitutional duty to conduct oversight,” McAdams said.
“I take that duty seriously and have consistently supported fact finding to get all the information on the table and to determine our course of action, no matter where it might lead.”
“For myself, I pledge to remain objective and will reserve final judgment until that process concludes,” he said. “In the meantime, I call on members of Congress from both sides to dial back the political rhetoric.
“Voters want us to fulfill our constitutional duty in service of them and in service to our country, not in service of a political party or future elections. We have other work to do, and we cannot allow this issue to paralyze the Washington that is already low on results.”
