SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 24, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — When it comes to gender equality in the workplace, Utah ranks 50th out of the 50 states.
That’s the finding of a study by WalletHub, a website dedicated to personal fiscal fitness.
States are ranked in an article, “2017’s Best & Worst States for Women’s Equality.” Utah earns the dubious distinction of worst based on WalletHub’s analysts’ comparison of “the 50 states across 15 key indicators of gender equality,” the site says.
“Our data set ranges from the gap between female and male executives to the disparity in unemployment rates for women and men.”
Utah also earned low ranks in education and health (50th), workplace environment (43rd), and political empowerment (40th).
Ranking top overall in the survey was Hawaii, which earned No. 1 in education and heath, No. 4 in workplace environment and No. 8 in political empowerment.
Not looking to move quite so far to gain some equality? Well, Utah neighbor Nevada placed No. 2 overall, earning a No. 1 in workplace environment and political empowerment, and No. 38 in education and health.
In related findings, Utah came in 48th for the size of its income gap between the genders, and 46th for its income gap between executives of different genders.
