Utah reports 5 deaths, 1,068 new COVID-19 cases Sunday

UTAH, Sept. 27, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health on Sunday reported 1,068 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the state’s total to 70,615.

There were five additional deaths, bringing the total to 453.

The deceased were:

  • A male, between 25-44, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • A female, older than 85, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident

Lab tests performed since the beginning of the outbreak number 811,249, with 6,170 people tested yesterday.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 974 per day.

The rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 13.9%

Currently, 180 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak number 3,729.

Patients categorized as recovered, defined as still living three weeks after diagnosis, stand at 54,201. It is common for COVID-19 patients to die more than three weeks after diagnosis.
