IRON COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 21, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Andrew Hill, defendant in a revenge porn case, has been sentenced to up to five years in the Utah State Prison for stalking, sexual extortion, and distribution of pornography, the Iron County Attorney’s Office announced.
“This is the maximum penalty allowed by law. Hill obtained intimate images of the victim and posted the images on various pornographic sites to terrorize and harm the victim emotionally and financially,” the agency news release says. “This conduct continued for years.”
Hill’s affidavit says a former girlfriend this year accused Hill of creating “revenge porn” by sharing nude and suggestive photos only he had access to on social media accounts he allegedly created, which included the victim’s name and suggesting she enjoyed violence. Some included the victim’s phone number, and suggested she was a sex worker, Hill’s affidavit says.
The abuse went on for more than a decade, the affidavit says.
Judge Matthew Bell recommended to the Board of Pardons that Hill, 36, be given no credit for time served, parole not be afforded, and that if parole is to be considered, that the Board carefully consider the impact these crimes have had on the victim and the totality of the case.
Judge Bell called Hill’s actions “disgusting and hurtful” and said Hill was a “selfish, vengeful person.”
The Iron County Attorney’s Office “is grateful for the hard work of Detective Zac Banz of the Cedar City Police Department for his tireless work in this case,” the release says. “We also want to recognize the victim for her strength and resolve in this case.”
The Board of Pardons will ultimately determine how long Hill will serve.
