ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico, June 11, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Utah man was shot to death inside an Albuquerque brewery by at least one off-duty FBI agent Saturday night, according to officials.

The deceased has been identified as Cody Wrathall, 43, an associate veterinarian for South Valley Large Animal Clinic in South Jordan, said a report from KRQE in Albuquerque. Wrathall’s Facebook page said he lived in Saratoga Springs and was originally from Erda.

Albuquerque police responded to Nexus Brewery off I-25 and Montgomery around 9 p.m. after a woman called, saying she was being stalked, according to the report.

Shortly after, police said an off-duty federal agent at Nexus saw a man, later identified as Wrathall, enter the brewery with a gun, and that’s when the shooting happened.

Several witnesses confirmed numerous shots were fired inside the brewery; it’s not clear whether Wrathall fired his gun. It’s also not clear at this time whether it was one agent that shot at Wrathall or more than one.

Police said the injured man was transported by ground ambulance and died at the hospital.

Officials would not say if Wrathall was that reported stalker or what his motive was for allegedly pulling out a gun inside the building before he was shot.

Albuquerque police are handling the death investigation, but they said all other inquiries will be handled by the FBI.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
