VIDEO: Utahns Unite To Declare, Celebrate Pride At Parade In Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 6, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Surrounded by cheering crowds and rainbow flags, Utah’s LGBT community and its supporters had more than ever to celebrate Sunday at the 41st annual Utah Pride Parade and Festival.

For one thing, these were the first festivities since the United States Supreme Court legalized gay marriage nearly a year ago.

For another, Salt Lake City has its first openly gay mayor in Jackie Biskupski, who has pledged to support the diverse communities of the city.

But the overriding parade and festival theme — like every year — was celebrating the freedom to be who you are and to appreciate others for the diversity they bring to Utah.

Organizers say as many as 40,000 attend the three days of festivities. To see a few of them at the parade, click on the video player above.
