HOLLADAY CITY, UTAH – August 4, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Unified Police Department said a citizen told a Unified Police Officer assigned to Holladay Precinct there was a male passed out behind the wheel of a running car in a neighborhood, yesterday at approximately 9 a.m.
Police said the officer made contact with the driver who immediately became nervous and evasive with his answers. The keys for the vehicle were removed and placed on the top of the car due to the suspect’s behavior.
“When it became obvious the suspect was lying about his name, he was asked to exit the car,” UPD said in a statement. “As the officer attempted to investigate further, the male fled on foot and got away initially.”
The vehicle was found to have been stolen on Sunday, August 2 from Cottonwood Heights. Inside the vehicle was evidence linking the male to over a dozen vehicle burglaries, some reported and some not, from the early hours of Sunday, August 3 in Holladay City and Cottonwood Heights areas.
The owners of some of the property were located and the property returned to them. Also, a wallet belonging to Casey Fallon was found in the stolen vehicle.
Several hours later, around 1 p.m., another Holladay City officer responding on a call of a vehicle burglary that had just occurred where the vehicle owner had confronted the suspect, detained a suspicious male walking in the area. The male was positively identified as the person confronted by the citizen and identified as Casey Fallon.
Fallon admitted to UPD and CHPD detectives that he had stolen the Honda CRV the day prior in Cottonwood Heights and had broken into dozens of vehicles looking for money to support his drug habit since stealing the car.
Fallon was found to be on parole and his agent was contacted. Narcotics and paraphernalia were found on his person. He was booked into jail for charges related to these events, with more charges potentially being filed in the next few days.
UPD is looking for anyone who may have had their vehicle burglarized between August 2 and 3 in the Holladay City or Cottonwood Heights area of Salt Lake County and may not have reported it yet. UPD may have your property in evidence and would like to hear from you.
