VERNAL, Utah, Oct. 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Uintah Basin Law Enforcement has released information in the murder of Roosevelt resident Kimberly Hyde, whose body was found in her car in Vernal on Oct. 8, the day after she was reported missing.
“An investigative team comprised of the Roosevelt, Vernal, and Naples City Police Departments, the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, and the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office have identified two primary suspects in this case, Henry Resuera and a juvenile suspect,” says a news release shared on social media by Vernal police.
“The juvenile is currently in custody, however we will not be releasing additional information on this suspect because they are a minor.
“Prior to Mr. Resuera being identified as a suspect, he traveled to another country. Currently, he is not on the continent, and our investigators are actively collaborating with the FBI and other international agencies to facilitate his return to face charges, which include aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, and aggravated robbery — all first-degree felonies.
“This incident has profoundly impacted our close-knit communities, and we recognize the sorrow and concern it has caused. We want to assure the public that a thorough and diligent investigation is ongoing.”
The statement said the investigating agencies wanted to “extend our deepest condolences to the Hyde family.
“We also would like to express our gratitude to the dedicated investigative teams from the Roosevelt, Vernal, and Naples City Police Departments, the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI. Their tireless efforts are crucial in ensuring justice is served and in safeguarding our communities.”
The statement said that in order to protect the integrity of the case and its prosecution, “we will not be releasing additional information at this time.”
