Vernal police: Teenage son stabbed dad after verbal altercation

VERNAL, Utah, Jan. 14, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — An 18 year old from Vernal is facing an attempted homicide charge after he allegedly stabbed his dad following a verbal altercation.

Officials were dispatched Saturday to a reportĀ of a stabbing in the area of 930 N. Vernal Ave., the Vernal Police Department said in a news release on Facebook

Upon arrival, the victim, identified as Jeffery Olsen, was found to have multiple stab wounds to his torso, arm and shoulder. The suspect was identified as Jeffrey Olsen’s son, Tristan Olsen.

“Investigation revealed that Jeffrey and Tristan had gotten into an argument at the residence, and that the argument escalated into a physical confrontation,” the news release said. “During the altercation, Tristan stabbed his father numerous times.”

Jeffrey Olsen was transported to the Ashley Regional Medical Center in Vernal, and was later transferred to the Salt Lake City area for additional treatment. He is currently in stable condition recovering from his wounds.

Tristan Olsen was taken into custody and booked into the Uintah County Jail for second-degree felony attempted homicide.
