WEST VALLEY CITY, Jan. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police say a victim who drove to a city park to sell a cell phone in the early hours of Saturday morning was carjacked at machete-point and left at the scene.

Lt. Jeff Conger, West Valley City Police, said that at about 1:45 a.m., officials were called to the parking lot of Hunter Park, at 3600 S. 6000 West.

“The victim met two males and a female to sell a phone, and when he got there, the suspects robbed him,” Conger said. “One male had a machete, and robbed him. They took his car and left him there, and he called police.”

Investigators followed leads overnight, and took two suspects into custody. They also recovered the stolen car and the vehicle used by the suspects, Conger said.

“The other male, the one we did not locate, is the one that supposedly had the machete,” he said.

The male and female who were detained and questioned were later booked into jail on charges of aggravated robbery, Conger said.

Conger identified the suspects in custody as Paige Patten, 22, and Kilpatrick Ward, 21.
