PROVO CANYON, Utah, Aug. 2, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of two people killed in last Saturday’s mountain crash.
The pair died July 28 at about 10:30 p.m. after a car drove off Kyhv Peak Rd. in Provo Canyon, the sheriff’s office said in Thursday press release.
The car rolled 200 yards down the mountain, coming to rest on its roof near the Provo City Gun Range.
“Scarleth Fuerzalda Navarro, 24, was thrown from the car just below where it left the road,” the sheriff’s office said. “She died at the scene.
“Justan Carnales Navarro, 23, the driver, died in the car during the crash.”
Two passengers survived the crash with less serious injuries.
“A surviving passenger said speed was a factor.”
No other information was released; the cause of the mishap is still under investigation.
