Video released of Bountiful shooting; police asking public for tips on suspect identities

BOUNTIFUL, Utah, Aug. 10, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Bountiful police have shared video of a Tuesday morning incident in which a man confronted two suspects who appeared to be trying to break into cars in his driveway.

One suspect pulled out a handgun and shot nine times, hitting the 44-year-old victim once in the leg, police say.

The men, one of whom appears in the video to be wearing a protective vest, fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan. The victim, who called in the incident at 4:15 a.m., was transported to the University of Utah Hospital for treatment of his non life-threatening injury.

Bountiful Assistant Police Chief Dave Edwards told Gephardt Daily that four suspects were being sought, all believed to me men in their 20s. The video shows only two suspects clearly.

Police shared the doorbell camera footage Tuesday afternoon, asking media outlets to share the video “to engage the public to assist with identifying the suspects,” the statement says.

“This investigation remains open. Anyone with information related to this crime should contact Bountiful Police detectives at 801-298-6000.”
