HURRICANE, UTAH – September 18, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Washington County officials confirmed the body of missing Hurricane man Ryan Mertlich was found Thursday evening, raising the death toll from this week’s flash floods to 20.

According to Hurricane City Police, officers took a report of a possible missing male out of Hurricane City on Tuesday, September 15 after he visited with family in Washington City.

Mertlich’s family was not sure if he made it home and left or never arrived, but told officers he sometimes liked to drive through Warner Valley to go home.

Officials said they found his body in the Ft. Pearce Wash area of Warner Valley just after 5 p.m. Thursday. Search and Rescue crews found his camouflage-colored 1990 Geo Tracker on Wednesday afternoon on the Arizona Strip in Mohave County, Arizona, and headed to the area to continue searching for Mertlich.
