WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, June 8, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal fall last weekend in Zion National Park.

“Having notified next of kin, the victim is identified as 26-year-old Cassidy Brown of Springdale, UT,” a statement from the agency says.

“Although still under investigation, there is not evidence to suggest the cause of death was anything other than a tragic recreational accident.”

The unattended death remains under investigation, the WCSO statement says.

According to information released earlier, the victim, now identified as “Cassy” Brown, died last weekend after a fall in Zion National Park. Brown reportedly fell 50 to 80 feet in Mystery Canyon on Saturday afternoon.

A rescue helicopter was dispatched to the scene, but was unable to reach the victim due to the narrow, steep canyon walls in the area where she fell.

Park medics reached Brown, but she died before she could be transported out.

Friends from the Canyon Collective posted written and photo tributes to Brown on a Cassy Brown Appreciation thread on their website.
