WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, April 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in the search for a missing 33-year-old woman.
Sarah Frances Cox, whose maiden name is Yasuda, was camping with her husband and son in the Little Creek Mountain area, southwest of the town of Apple Valley, according to a news release from WCSO.
“Cox was reported to have left the campsite on the evening of Sunday, the 28th of April on foot,” the news release said. “She was possibly headed toward Hurricane. When she failed to return to the campsite by the following day, her husband reported her missing to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.”
Apple Valley is approximately 10 miles southeast of Hurricane.
Sheriff’s deputies and volunteers from Washington County Search and Rescue responded to the area to search for the woman, but were required to terminate the search early due to the severe thunderstorms that hit the area, the news release said.
A helicopter from the Utah Highway Patrol Aero Bureau has been dispatched to assist search and rescue efforts as they resume Tuesday afternoon.
Cox is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds. She has red hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt with a black hoodie and hiking boots.
Anyone who sees her or has any information about her whereabouts is asked to contact WCSO dispatch at 435-634-5730.
