Watch: President Russell M. Nelson set to address church members to announce new leadership

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The new president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be announced this morning.

President Russell M. Nelson will address church members at 9 a.m. in a live announcement (click on the link above to watch). At 10 a.m., Nelson, who is 93 and next in seniority for the position, will do a news conference to introduce new church leadership.

Through the church satellite system, it will be translated into 29 languages, including in Cantonese and Mandarin, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Samoan, Swedish, Tagalog, Tahitian, Thai, Tongan, Spanish and Ukrainian. An American Sign Language translation also will be provided.

Former LDS Church president Thomas S. Monson passed away Jan. 2 at age 90 after more than six decades of service to the LDS Church. Nearly 10 of those years were as the LDS president.

Monson was laid to rest on Friday.
