WEBER COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 23, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Weber County child was struck by an SUV just before 6 p.m. Wednesday when he was playing with friends and ran into the street, sheriff officials say.

Weber County Sheriff deputies were sent to the scene, near 4200 West and 2560 South, Plain City, at 5:49 p.m., Lt. Cortney Ryan, WCSO, told Gephardt Daily.

“The 4 year old was struck in the roadway,” Ryan said. “He was taken by ground ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital, then flown to Primary Children’s Hospital.

“His condition is serious, but he is expected to survive.”

The driver of the SUV remained on the scene and cooperated with officials, Ryan said. There was no indication the driver was impaired, he added.

“There were kids playing in the area, and the child darted into the road,” Ryan said. “It was a freak accident. Hopefully, the child will make a full recovery.”
