OGDEN, Utah, April 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Weber County Animal Services, which is currently over capacity, is asking pet owners to consider another option before trying to surrender their animals.
Rehome Your Pet is an online pet listing program that allows Weber County residents to list their cats, dogs and other small pets on the shelter website, where potential adopters can review photos and information about the available pets.
The program has helped the Weber County shelter remain a no-kill facility, a news release says.
“We work together with the public, volunteers and employees to become a no-kill community,” said Lieutenant Jackson of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. “We value each animal’s life and are dedicated to providing compassion, care and assistance to the animals in our community.
Rehome Your Pet is one way we can achieve our goal of a no-kill shelter.”
Owners hoping to rehome pets can fill out a form on the shelter’s website, providing a photo and animal information.
“All submissions are reviewed by the animal shelter staff before being listed on the animal shelter’s website,” the agency’s statement says. “Once approved, listings will be posted for 30 days to increase the possibility of securing a new home for the pets.”
The Rehome Your Pet program is a courtesy for the residents of Weber County only, and Weber County Animal Services does not take any responsibility for the transfer of ownership through this program.
This service is provided for those who need to rehome pets before considering surrender. Submissions of litters and any other breeder activity is prohibited and will not be accepted.
