BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 29, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Weber County man who went camping last weekend has been found deceased after he was reported missing by family members.
Donald Glen Rumsey, 53, had left to go camping on Saturday afternoon, his family told officials, but he did not tell anyone his planned location. Two days later, he had not returned.
“He had missed two days of work and family began to worry,” a statement from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office said.
“Knowing he had spent time in Perry Canyon area, family responded to that location and found the ATV trailer and truck. Box Elder County Search and Rescue was notified at about 1 a.m. Wednesday 08/28/2019, but due to the late hour made preparations for a response at 6 a.m.
“Mr. Rumsey ATV was observed by a hiker upside down in a ravine/depression along a trail about a quarter mile from his truck. Deputies found him near the ATV a short time later, about 7:30 a.m., deceased.”
Rumsey’s probable cause of death is injuries suffered in the ATV accident, but his body was transported to the Utah State Medical Examiner for determination of exact cause of death, the BECSO statement said.
