WEBER COUNTY, Utah, June 20, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Weber County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash.

The man killed was 37-year-old Daniel Thompson, of Roy.

Thompson’s motorcycle crashed at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on State Route 167, also known as Trapper’s Loop, near milepost 9.

Weber County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Cortney Ryan told Gephardt Daily that witnesses told investigators the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed, and failed to negotiate a corner.

The motorcycle went off the road and crashed, and the man was ejected, Ryan said.

Thompson was wearing a helmet and protective gear, but the helmet came off, according to reports. Thompson succumbed to his injuries on scene.

“Our condolences go out to his family and friends for their tragic loss,” the WCSO statement says.
