WEBER COUNTY, Utah, Feb. 11, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Weber County Sheriff’s Office is asking two men who witnessed and intervened in the assault of a woman at 9th Street Park on Wednesday to please contact police, who seek further information.

The assault happened at about 5 p.m., a statement from the WCSO says.

“This incident led to a shooting in Plain City and we would like to speak with those two males as witnesses to this incident. If you have any information, please contact the Investigations Bureau at 801-778-6631 and reference case 21WC4022.”

Lt. Cortney Ryan, Weber County Sheriff’s Office, told Gephardt Daily Wednesday night that the first incident was a domestic assault in or near a park in Ogden, followed about an hour later by a related shooting in Plain City.

One man is hospitalized with gunshot wounds and a second is in custody after the related shooting in Plain City.

Ryan couldn’t say how many shots hit the victim. More details will be released as the investigation continues, Ryan said.

Ryan did say the victim was conscious and talking and was expected to survive the shooting. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Ryan said.

Ryan said at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday that officers from multiple agencies were still at the Plain City scene, in the area of 3300 West and 3200 North. Additional officers were at the hospital with the victim, Ryan said.

Gephardt Daily will provide more information as details are released.
