SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, Nov. 30, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) ─ The weekend-long lockdown at the Salt Lake County Jail has been lifted, officials announced Monday morning.
According to Salt Lake County Sheriff Sergeant Cammie Skogg, the jail was placed on lockdown Friday at 2 a.m. after an assault on a staff member.
“Before that lockdown was lifted, two additional incidents involving staff occurred and the lockdown remained in place,” Skogg said. “All three incidents appear to be random and unrelated, and the injuries to the staff involved were minor.”
Non-essential services were suspended, including prisoner programs and visiting.
On Monday morning, Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder and Salt Lake County Deputy Chief Pamela Lofgreen lifted the lockdown after reviewing each of the incidents, and all services have resumed as normal.
Details about the incidents were not made immediately available.
