West Jordan man jailed after alleged cruelty to animals, domestic assault

WEST JORDAN, Utah, June 22, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- A West Jordan man has been jailed without bail for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and abusing their dog.

The 25-year-old man, whose name Gephardt Daily is not releasing for the privacy of his victim, was booked into jail for investigation of alleged:

  • Robbery, a second-degree felony
  • Cruelty to an animal, a class B misdemeanor
  • Assault (domestic violence), a class B misdemeanor
  • Public intoxication, a class C misdemeanor

An arrest document filed by an officer of the West Jordan Police Department, says that police responded early Sunday morning.

"The victim reported that the alleged perpetrator came home intoxicated and became upset because she had allowed their dog to lie on the bed.

"The victim stated that (her boyfriend) punched the dog, grabbed it by the skin, (and) forcefully pushed her onto the bed, and threatened to hit her.

"The victim mentioned that she was recording the incident with her cell phone at the time. She said (her boyfriend) then snatched the phone from her hand."

The woman provided the recording from her phone to police, and it "supported her account of the events," the statement says.
