WEST JORDAN, Utah, June 28, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating a female driver’s death Wednesday after she was shot, then crashed her car in West Jordan.

Sgt. Joe Monson, West Jordan Police Department, told Gephardt Daily the woman was driving northbound on 7800 South and 2700 West just before 9 a.m. when an unknown suspect shot into her vehicle.

Her vehicle continued north on 2700 West and came to a stop against a tree. It’s not yet known if the woman died from the gunshot wound or the subsequent accident.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area as investigators interview witnesses.

“If someone was in the area and saw something we’d like to talk to them and get a statement from them,” Monson said. “Obviously we are looking for witnesses at this time and we do have some witnesses, that are on scene and they are being interviewed at this time.”

He said the woman was the only person in the car at the time.

Monson added police are working on a suspect and vehicle description which will be released to the public later today.

It’s not known if there was any relationship between the victim and the suspect.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
