WEST JORDAN, Utah, Jan. 13, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A brief police pursuit Thursday night was terminated because of other vehicles in the area, but West Jordan officers were still able to take all of the car’s occupants into custody.

According to West Jordan Police Sgt. Jeremy Robertson, the incident began at about 9:30 p.m. when an officer noticed a vehicle with no license plates and attempted to stop it at 1800 West and 7800 South.

The driver initially pulled over, but then proceeded to move on, pulling through a parking lot to evade the officer. A brief chase ensued, but was called off for the safety of other nearby vehicles, and a containment area was established.

Officers observed the car going through the area, Robertson said, and a short while later saw it parked in a driveway, where tracks in the snow led into the house.

Robertson said all occupants of the car were taken into custody, and police were still determining their identities and motive for fleeing.

An officer was heard saying that one of the car’s occupants may have ditched a gun, but that had not been confirmed by police late Thursday night.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as police release more information.
