WEST JORDAN, Utah, Aug. 20, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A West Jordan woman lost her life on Thursday while on an LDS church outing near Jackson Hole, Wyo.

Pamela Solomon, 54, and a member of the West Jordan 27th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was helping to lead a youth river rafting trip on the Snake River near the Wyoming/Idaho border when her raft capsized and she fell into the river.

Church spokesman Eric Hawkins said Solomon was wearing a life jacket and was quickly pulled from the river, but she had swallowed too much water, and could not be revived. She died after being taken to a hospital in Jackson Hole.

Hawkins made a statement to KUTV about Solomon’s loss:

“Sister Solomon was a beloved Young Women’s president and we mourn with her family and the members of her congregation as they face this tragic loss.”

Solomon was a photographer and owned her own studio. Friends posting tributes on her Facebook page said they would remember her friendship, her positive attitude, and for being there to shoot photos at the important moments of their lives.

  1. Words can’t explain the way I feel inside about the heart wrenching tragedy that happened with one of the most giving and loving ladies I have ever met in my life. I literally just had a very personal and spiritual moment in her most lovely house and touching photography rooms. Absolutely captivating. I’m so grateful to have had a very precious piece of her talent, love and BEAUTY in my life something I will cherish and love forever. Thank you PAM for your Soft Heart, Happy Light and Contagious spirit and love and dedication to the LORD. I know that you are with him. I pray deeply for your family and all who are in shock, numb, in pain or just hurting so much. We will miss you tremendously. I’m so grateful for the plan of salvation. Thank you again Pam.
