MIDVALE, Utah, Sept. 17, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A West Jordan woman who pleaded guilty in a fatal hit-and-run case has been sentenced to up to five years in Utah State Prison.
Mika Lindquist, 32, pleaded guilty in July of leaving the scene after she hit and killed 56-year-old Charles Renfro on Sept. 24, 2015, in Midvale.
Lindquist was driving along 7200 South at 50 West when she struck Renfro at about 6:40 p.m. that day. She said the sun was in her eyes when she hit something.
Lindquist said she got out of her car to see what she had hit. Upon finding she had hit a person, she got in her car and drove away, according to court documents.
On July 15 Lindquist pleaded guilty in Third District Court, admitting she left the scene of an accident, a third degree felony. She also pleaded guilty in the case of a theft pursuant to a rental agreement, which was reduced to a class A misdemeanor.
A Third District Court judge on Friday determined those two sentences will be served concurrently.
A third degree felony charge against her, for obstructing justice, was dismissed.
Lindquist also was sentenced Friday in an unrelated case involving drugs. That one-year sentences also will be served concurrently.
