SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 4, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City firefighters battled a structure fire on West Temple early Monday morning that displaced six adults.

SLC Fire Department spokesman Jasen Asay said crews responded to the fire at 1706 S. West Temple at 2:11 a.m.

“First-arriving crews saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor of the two-story residential structure,” Asay said in a prepared statement. “Crews made a fast attack and had a quick knockdown of the fire.

“Because there was a small amount of fire on the roof’s eaves, it took approximately 35 minutes before firefighters called the fire under control. The fire was completely extinguished shortly after that.”

The fire caused heavy damage to the second level of the two-story house, and also damaged the roof.

All six adults living in the house at the time of the fire were outside when crews arrived. The Utah Red Cross was called in to assist the displaced occupants.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
