SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A West Valley City man has been indicted federally on multiple drug charges based on alleged plans to distribute 196,000 fentanyl pills.
According to court documents, Francisco Jesus Bravo, 34, became part of a criminal investigation in April of this year by the FBI Wasatch Metro Drug Task Force for allegedly intending to distribute large quantities of narcotics into Utah.
The court documents did not include an estimate of the street value of the fentanyl, but the DEA estimates, that depending on quality and supply, fentanyl can go for as high as $10 a pill.
“As part of the investigation, in May 2024, agents seized approximately 19,802 grams (package weight) of field-tested positive fentanyl that is estimated to be approximately 190,000 pills and a digital scale from Bravo’s storage unit in West Valley City.”
At his residence, agents also seized approximately 2,968.5 grams (package weight) of field-tested positive methamphetamine; approximately 624.72 grams (package weight) of field-tested positive fentanyl that estimated to be approximately 6,000 pills; approximately 295.77 grams (package weight) of field-tested positive heroin; and a digital scale, prosecutors said.
At a residence in Kearns, Utah, agents seized 860.28 grams of heroin allegedly belonging to Bravo.
He was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury and arraigned Thursday in the U.S. District Courthouse in downtown Salt Lake City.
Bravo was described in the press release as a dual citizen living in Utah, but with what other country was not disclosed. He is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, and possession of heroin with intent to distribute.
