WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Sept. 3, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) —  Neighbors living along a West Valley City cul-de-sac say an all-day, all-night drinking marathon led to an overnight stabbing which landed one man in the hospital and the other in the Salt Lake County Jail.

Witnesses told Gephardt Daily the men had been “throwing back” throughout the day into the night at a residence near 3558 W. Westlake Dr. (3245 South). They said at one point at least one of the men had an angry verbal exchange with neighbors.

Those same neighbors were awakened by angry voices about 1:20 a.m. as the men squared off in a driveway shouting match. They say they clearly heard one man threaten to stab the other.

While the neighbors say they did not see the actual attack, they did witness the immediate aftermath; the wounded man standing dazed while clutching a knife wound to his abdomen.

West Valley City police arrived, along with EMTs and performed first aid before rushing the wounded man by ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

The suspect was arrested without incident and taken to the Salt Lake County Jail.

The condition of the wounded man has yet to be released.

Gephardt Daily will update the story as more information becomes available.
