WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Aug. 5, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle on 3500 South.

The accident occurred just after 11:30 p.m. at 3500 S. Redwood Road.

Lt. M.T. Johnson, with the West Valley City Police Department, said the vehicle that hit the man fled the scene. Witnesses described it as a “red car, missing the rear bumper,” and Johnson said it would have front-end damage from striking the man on the bike.

The victim, who is about 49 years old, was transported to the hospital in “pretty serious condition, but later was sitting up and talking,” Johnson said. He is expected to spend the night in the hospital undergoing tests to determine the extent of any injuries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who recognizes the suspect vehicle is asked to call West Valley City police at 801-840-4000.
