WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, June 1, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters say a residential fire in West Valley City Wednesday afternoon was limited to one upstairs room.
“We got a call about smoke coming from the upstairs,” said Mark Ownsbey, West Valley Fire Department battalion chief. The fire was in the area of S. Bird Haven Road (2255 West).
“We went through the front door, got right upstairs, and found the fire,” he said. “They did a great job knocking it out, and really, it could have been different if doors were closed.”
Crews from West Valley City Police Department and Unified Fire Authority responded to the fire, reported at about 12:25 p.m.
Ownsbey estimated the damage at about $30,000.
The homeowners were away from the house, and had not been located before the fire was out, but a neighbor had rescued the residents’ dogs.
