MIDVALE, Utah, March 6, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspect has been arrested in the case of a West Valley City woman who on Saturday morning suffered multiple stab wounds before escaping through her bedroom window, leaving a trail of blood behind her.

West Valley City Police investigators developed information that led to the arrest of Caritino Cisneros Armenta, 25, located Sunday evening in a Midvale apartment.

Armenta was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of aggravated sexual assault and attempted murder, both first degree felonies.

On Saturday, West Valley Police Lt. Dalan Taylor said a call came in to dispatch at 2:30 a.m. When officers arrived at the location, near 3200 South and 4000 West, they found the stabbing victim bleeding from her neck and arm.

The victim told officers that she had spent the evening with a man she had known for a short period of time.

The woman said the man sexually assaulted her then stabbed her, and that she had crawled out a window to escape. Officers responded to the apartment at that time, but found it empty.
