WASHINGTON DC, Jan. 31, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The widow of Maj. Brent Taylor, Jennie Taylor, will attend the 2019 State of the Union Address as a guest of Utah Rep. Rob Bishop, it was announced Thursday.

Taylor, 39, was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 3, 2018, in Kabul, Afghanistan, in an “apparent insider attack,” officials said.

Bishop said in a press release that Jennie Taylor will be his guest at the event, which is scheduled for Feb. 5 in the U.S Capitol.

The following day, Bishop will host a reception in Washington, D.C., to honor Jennie Taylor and her husband. Additional members of Utah’s congressional delegation are scheduled to be in attendance, officials said.

Brent Taylor took a leave from his position as mayor of North Ogden to serve with the Utah National Guard in Afghanistan, leaving in January.

The Taylors have seven children, who range in age from 11 months to 13 years.
