UINTA COUNTY, Wyoming, July 29, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews are battling a 1,400-acre wildfire near Meeks Cabin Reservoir in Wyoming, which is just across the border from Utah.

Uinta County Fire and Ambulance said in a news release Thursday the County Youth Camp has been evacuated.

Highways 271 and 410 are closed for fire traffic and smoky conditions.

The news release added the public is urged to use caution or avoid the area since fire behavior can change and fire spread is unpredictable if high winds develop.

Uinta is fighting the wildfire in coordination with the Bureau of Land Management High Desert District, Kemmerer Field Office, Wyoming State Forestry, and Wasatch Cache Forest Service.

Firefighting resources include air attack, heavy air and single-engine air tankers, helicopters, multiple engines, hand crews and hotshot crews.

The fire is burning in heavy timber, grass, and sagebrush and is heading east.

Uinta County Law Enforcement Services said the fire was last estimated to be between 1,300 and 1,400 acres. A type-two team incident command staff has been ordered and will arrive in the area today to take command of the incident, with approximately 600 firefighters.

There have been no reports of injuries, though EMTs are on scene.

The cause of the wildfire is unknown and under investigation at this time.
