West Jordan police release video of suspect who pepper sprayed clerk during robbery

WEST JORDAN, Utah, Aug. 23, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in West Jordan have released video of a suspect who they say used pepper spray on a clerk during an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven earlier this month.

West Jordan Police Department officials said in a Facebook post that the incident occurred at the 7-Eleven at 6990 S. Redwood Road at approximately 3 a.m. Aug. 1.

“The person in this video robbed one of our 7-Eleven stores a few weeks back in the middle of the night,” the post said. “He pepper sprayed or bear sprayed the clerk and left with cash and cigarettes. The video isn’t the best but we wanted to get it out.”

The suspect was also carrying a large knife, officials said.

Officials said at the time the suspect is in his 20s; he is seen in surveillance video wearing a white baseball cap, a dark bandanna over the bottom half of his face, a black T-shirt and shorts, white sneakers and red gloves.

The clerk was treated at the scene and did not need to be transported to the hospital, police said.

Anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to contact West Jordan Police Department’s Detective Andrew Hercules at 801-256-2205 and reference case #18H011705.

  1. Coward. Spineless, pathetic, gutless piece of human trash. There was no reason for that. Couldn’t just tell the clerk to sit down for 3 min, then grab the money and go? Puhleeezzzz…..
