BLUFFDALE, Utah, July 6, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A 23-year-old woman was arrested early Friday following a stabbing at a Bluffdale apartment complex.
Officers responded about 1:50 a.m. to Rockpoint Apartment Homes at 15300 S. Porter Rockwell Blvd., where a 26-year-old man had been stabbed seven times, Bluffdale police said.
The man left the apartment and later showed up at an area hospital, though his condition was not disclosed. He sustained six stab wounds to the back and one to the neck, police said.
Police say Izabel Nina Marie Happold ultimately admitted to stabbing the man after changing her story several times. Happold also led police to a dumpster in the apartment complex’s parking lot where she had hidden the knife following the stabbing, according to a probable cause statement filed in 3rd District Court.
Police found “a large amount of blood” and “countless open alcoholic containers” in the apartment, and Happold continued to drink alcohol while speaking with officers, the affidavit says.
Police say Happold had a blood alcohol level of .163 at the time of her arrest.
The woman told police she stabbed the man because he had attacked her husband and she feared for his life, according to arrest documents. She later said she stabbed the man before he hit her husband.
There were seven children in the apartment at the time of the stabbing, police said.
Happold was arrested for investigation of:
- Aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony
- Obstructing service of a Board of Pardons and Parole warrant or probation violation, a third-degree felony
- Obstruction of justice, a third-degree felony
- Seven counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, a class B misdemeanor
- Intoxication, a class C misdemeanor
She is being held without bail in the Salt Lake County jail.
