SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 2, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews from the Salt Lake City Police and Fire departments responded to the scene Thursday after an SUV crashed into the Jordan River in the Rose Park neighborhood.

Dispatch was alerted at 3:18 p.m., and crews responded to the area of 2000 N. Rose Park Lane.

“While on the phone with the 9-1-1 caller, SLC911 learned the SUV had left the road and crashed into the Jordan River,” a statement issued by SLCPD PR says.

“The Salt Lake City Fire Department and SLCPD officers responded. When crews arrived, the driver, a 22-year-old woman, had already climbed out a passenger side window. After crashing into the water, the SUV came to a rest on the river’s bank, which prevented it from sinking further.”

The case is under investigation, the statement says.

“Officers are investigating whether the driver may have fallen asleep behind the wheel and failed to properly maintain her lane of travel,” the SLCPD PR statement says. “There are no reported injuries.”
