UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 29, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman is dead after the pickup truck she was a passenger in collided, head on, with a semi truck on State Route 96 in Utah County.

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon near mile marker 17. As of 5 p.m., the road remained closed in both directions.

“There was an adult female in the pickup truck that was killed in the crash,” Sgt. Cameron Roden, Utah Highway Patrol, told Gephardt Daily.

Roden said that was the only fatality, and he didn’t know what injuries, if any, were suffered by the pickup and semi drivers or any additional passengers, “but I have not heard of anything significant.”

Roden said it was also not known yet which driver was in the wrong lane when the head-on collision happened.

The incident happened north of Helper, on the Utah County side of the border between it and Carbon County, to the south.

Gephardt Daily will have more information as details become available.
