SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, Sept. 8, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman lost control of her SUV on Saturday morning on Mountain View Corridor, and was ejected.

A medical helicopter was summoned, but the woman died at the scene, at 11200 South, Sgt. Sam Winkler, South Jordan Police, told Gephardt Daily.

“It happened at about 8 a.m.,” Winkler said. “A woman driving a southbound Chevy Suburban drifted to the right, hit the curb, and overcorrected. The female was ejected and died here at the scene.”

The victim has been identified as Bethinee Bojorquez, 42, of West Valley City. Police are investigating impairment and speed as factors.

“People need to slow down and stay safe,” Winkler said. “The speed here is 55 mph for a reason.”

Later, he released an additional statement:

“Although the vehicle sustained serious damage, I truly believe the use of a seatbelt could have saved her life,” Winkler said. “Mountain View Highway has become problematic due to the very high speeds motorists are travelling in which the roadway design cannot handle. Please slow down to the posted speed limits.”
