WEST JORDAN, Utah, Oct. 22, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man and woman had a heated argument while they sat in a vehicle late Sunday night, and it escalated into a physical altercation on the street, a parked car getting hit, and police calling for backup when they arrived on scene.
The incident happened just before midnight in the area of 1115 West and 7076 South.
West Jordan Police Officer Jennifer Worthen said the man and woman, both adults, know each other as friends, but are not in a domestic relationship.
Worthen said it isn’t yet known who or what started the argument, but after it moved out onto the street and turned physical, the man got back into the vehicle and fled the scene, hitting a parked car as he sped away.
The woman had a “small laceration” on her face where the man allegedly struck her. She was transported to the hospital, but her injury wasn’t serious.
And although police were initially responding to a report of an assault on the woman, the incident didn’t end there.
Worthen said the woman is now facing charges that include:
- Trespassing (for going into a nearby home uninvited)
- Resisting arrest
- Assault on an officer
Police know the identity of the man who fled the scene, and they hope to talk with him soon.
