TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, May 30, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspected car thief was fatally injured Thursday night when she fled from officers during an attempted Taylorsville traffic stop before crashing into two other vehicles at an intersection in Murray.

According to a news release from Taylorsville police, the deceased woman has been identified as Caysee Rebolloso, 35, of Salt Lake City.

Police say Rebolloso was spotted behind the wheel of car stolen in Layton.

"Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled. No pursuit was initiated, and a Department of Public Safety helicopter was able to maintain sight of the vehicle," the TVPD news release said.

"Officers then used tire deflation devices [spike strips] along 500 West to try to stop the vehicle. However, the driver [Rebolloso] continued to flee north. At that point, the vehicle traveled through the intersection at 4800 South and 500 West and crashed into the two other vehicles."

Rebolloso was transported to the hospital where she died from her injuries.

A passenger in the second vehicle, identified to Gephardt Daily Thursday night as a 67-year-old woman, was transported by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the third vehicle, identified as a teenager, was taken to the hospital by a family member for evaluation after sustaining minor injuries.

"Investigation of the crash has been assigned to the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Team, a multi-jurisdictional effort that handles major traffic accidents resulting in substantial injuries or fatalities."

Because Rebolloso was not being pursued by officers at the time of the crash, the standard officer-involved critical incident (OICI) protocol was not invoked, according to questions posed to Taylorsville PD.
