Woman critically wounded in Taylorsville drive-by shooting

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, May 8, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman rushed to a local trauma unit in critical condition Friday night after a being shot in the chest during a drive-by shooting in Taylorsville.

Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler told Gephardt Daily shots rang out about 7:20 p.m. near 1587 W. 4270 South, when an occupant, or occupants, of one car opened fire on another vehicle.

“A female passenger was hit in the chest, and was taken to IMC in critical condition, but she is expected to survive,” Cutler said. “The driver was uninjured.”

The suspect vehicle, which police say appeared to be spray-painted black, fled the scene.

Investigators have yet to determine a motive in the attack, or if the people in both vehicles know each other.
