Update: Woman shot while asleep in Ogden home dies

OGDEN, Utah, Aug. 14, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman struck by a bullet as she lay sleeping in an Ogden home in the early hours of Sunday morning has died, officials said.

The victim has been identified as Maria Sanchez, 47, the Ogden Police Department said in a news release Monday afternoon.

Police have three suspects in custody, and there are no outstanding suspects or persons of interest, the news release said.

Officials received a call of shots fired in the area of 300 28th St. Sunday just after 12:10 a.m., the Police Department said in an earlier news release. 

Officers arrived and found a residence that had been struck multiple times by gunfire.

A bullet had struck Sanchez as she lay sleeping in bed inside the home. She was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where she subsequently died.
