Woman killed in Summit County collision identified

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah, May 24, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Summit County officials have identified a woman killed in a head-on collision Thursday morning.

The victim was 63-year-old Marla Lou Harris, of Oakley.

The accident happened at 8:46 a.m. at 4650 W. Browns Canyon Road, a statement from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office says.i

“Upon arrival, deputies discovered one driver was deceased and the other driver had critical injuries,” the statement says. “Preliminary information suggests the driver of a 2012 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on Browns Canyon Road and veered into the eastbound traffic lane.

“The Toyota Camry hit a 2008 Toyota Highlander head on. The driver of the Toyota Camry, a 63-year-old female of Oakley, Utah, died on impact. The driver of the Toyota Highlander, a 31-year-old male of Peoa, Utah, received critical injuries and was transported to a Salt Lake area hospital.”

The identity of the victim would not be released until her family was notified, the original statement said.

“The Summit County Sheriff’s Office offers our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the decedent.”
