Woman ‘ransacks’ North Temple Maverik after trying to steal food

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials said a woman “ransacked” a Maverik on North Temple after she attempted to steal food and was confronted by a clerk in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at the Maverik at 206 W. North Temple St. just before 1:15 a.m., the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

The suspect, Antwanaia Lee King, 20, entered the convenience store and attempted to steal some food items.

“King was confronted by the clerk, whom she then attacked,” the news release said. “After assaulting the clerk, King proceeded to ransack the store throwing several display cases onto the ground.”

Officers arrived on scene, and as they attempted to take her into custody, King kicked at officers.

King was taken to jail and booked for robbery, assault on a police officer, and criminal mischief.
