TOOELE, Utah, June 19, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 41-year-old woman was transported to a Tooele hospital in stable condition after the car she was riding in rolled on Interstate 80 Sunday afternoon.
A Saturn was traveling eastbound on I-80Â at approximately 5 p.m. in the area of mile post 100, according to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The vehicle left the roadway to the left, overcorrected to the right, and crossed both lanes of traffic, the news release said. The Saturn hit an embankment causing it to flip onto the rooftop.
The 41-year-old passenger was transported to Mountain West Medical Center by ambulance in stable condition, while the 18-year-old female driver was treated and released at the scene.
The crash is believed to be a result of distracted driving. Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
Eastbound traffic was closed to one lane for approximately 30 minutes while crews cleared the scene.
